I strongly recommend getting a second opinion before committing to long-term treatment here.
I brought my dog in because he had itchy, red, irritated skin. The veterinarian took what felt like a very brief look at him and essentially told me that he would always be itchy and red and that there was nothing they could really do besides prescribe medication to control the itching.
The only solution presented to me was an anti-itch medication that costs a significant amount of money, with the expectation that I would continue paying for it monthly. What concerned me was that there seemed to be little effort to investigate or address what might actually be causing the problem in the first place. There was no meaningful discussion about trying to identify an underlying cause, no particular recommendation for a specialized soap or skin-care routine, and no apparent attempt to explore other possible explanations before settling on lifelong symptom management.
That conclusion also did not match my experience with my dog afterward. We tried different approaches ourselves, including alternative soaps and changes to his food, and we were able to get him healthy, clean, and free of the red skin. That made me question the statement that there was simply “nothing we can do” about the underlying problem.
I obviously cannot speak to the clinic’s intentions or say what their motivation was, but being presented with an expensive, recurring medication as essentially the only option left me feeling like the focus was on managing the symptom rather than finding the cause.
Pet owners deserve to understand their options and have their concerns thoroughly investigated. If you are told that your dog will “always” have a condition and that the only option is an expensive medication every month, I strongly recommend asking questions, getting a second opinion, and making sure other possible causes and treatment approaches have actually been considered.
This review is based on my personal experience and the care that was offered to my dog.
I recently took my 4 year old German Shepherd to see Dr. Caitlin Gore for a second opinion on a limb issue my dog has been having. Dr. Gore was highly recommended to me and we were not disappointed. Dr. Gore took the time to fully examine my dog and accommodate her needs as an anxious shep that needs medication to go to the vet. Her patience and compassion were obvious as Ula behaved quite well for her which has not been the case with our previous vet. Dr. Gore gave us a couple recommendations moving forward both conservative and surgical. We opted for the conservative treatment as Dr. Gore told us that surgery was no guarantee to fix Ula’s issue. She also got us up to date on recommended vaccines and flea/tick/heartworm medication. I will definitely be back to see Dr. Gore in the future with both of our dogs based on her positive interactions with us and our dogs.

Ft. Wright, KY location: I have been taking my 3 cats, 1 foster, and 1 feral cat to Noah's Ark for the last couple of years. Two of my cats were sick and seen last Oct. by Dr. Gore. At the time, I brought in the folder which contains all of their medical records. I assumed copies were made. I took Luna to see Dr. Gore on Wed, 9/23/26 for a well visit. It was supposed to cost $62. As always, I end up with medications I don't need and can't use.
Dr. Gore felt of Luna's body and checked her teeth. Luna is challenging when I brush their teeth and I was concerned that they needed to be cleaned. She said they did. The only other thing that occurred during the visit was that she was weighed and I was told that she needed to lose 1 pound. I expected more from a well visit. The majority of the visit was spent discussing the issue of vaccinations.
After my 3 cats were vaccinated one year ago, they vomited at least 30 times before I could find a vet very close to me who was open and willing to see them. In addition, they were panting, high fever, rapid heartbeats, facial swelling, and lethargy. After a $800 vet bill they told me to take them to the ER to be monitored and let me know the cost would be $3000 to $5000. I did and had to bring one back the next day. I contacted the vaccination company and no one else reported a reaction with those batches (rabies/FVRCP) of vaccinations. I told Dr. Gore they almost died and we did not want them vaccinated. I told her they were vaccinated a year ago and I had brought in all of their records last October, but she couldn't find them. They never go outside, don't want to go outside, and our shoes are left in the garage. She said she is required by law to do the rabies vaccine and would not back down. I was extremely upset to risk my cat's life, but she said she could give her medicine (a shot) and send some home and we could wait in the office in case there was a reaction.
I eventually agreed, as I assumed they were at risk of a huge fine if they didn't give the rabies vaccination, and I wanted Luna's teeth to be cleaned. When I got home, I was angry that the Luna went through the pain of a shot and an extremely painful rabies vaccine shot. It is kept in the fridge and much more upsetting that a typical shot. I didn't know that a 1 year old could get a 3-year vaccination but she had gotten one only a year ago. She went through all that pain and trauma for nothing. I asked that the manager call me. She did, didn't answer when I called her back and called at 8am this morning, but didn't return my phone call.
I called again after Luna vomited twice and appeared to be sick. I was up until 4am this morning monitoring and worrying about her. I finally slept in a recliner with her on my lap.
I feel horrible because I wanted to take Luna for well visit to help her and only ended up hurting her. The $62 I was quoted ended up being almost $300. This was the second time I made the appointment and stated that it was a well visit. They did not ask me to bring in proof of vaccinations, and they should have made copies last October anyway. When I brought in a feral cat living in my home and my foster cat, I was not asked for proof that they had been vaccinated. Dr. Koopmans and Gore appeared to believe me and did not demand a rabies vaccine.
I volunteer at my animal shelter a great deal and talked to an animal control officer. Nothing would happen to a vet office that doesn't vaccinate and I would be fined no more than $30 if Luna escaped and an officer caught her. The vet can simply write a statement regarding her reaction to the vaccine, and I would not be fined at all!
Do not go here. They don't care about your pet. They just want $$$.
